This is a lie, and that’s why.
I have been seeing this advice on the internet lately: Before Buying Something, Make Sure You Can Buy It Twice. And I’m afraid I have to disagree with it. If that were true, most of us wouldn’t be able to buy anything whatsoever.
I think I am a pretty good person when it comes to budgeting and spending money, as I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world with a low income. I have been managing to save at least £400 off my £1650 monthly salary, which it’s not much, but living in the UK with £1,250 per month is almost a miracle, and I know I make magic happen every day.
If I applied this advice, I wouldn’t be able to buy my MacBook, which allows me to get work done every day. When I bought my computer, I had exactly the amount needed, not even a penny more. It cost me £1,500. At the time, I tried to buy a computer for £600 from Dell. I had found the perfect computer and waited two months for it to arrive, and when it did, it came with a problem. I stayed two months without a computer. I don’t even remember what I did during this time. And then I decided to get what I wanted, a MacBook. And I have been happy with it ever since.
