Consequences: What Really Matters During Decision Making
Are we trying to control the uncontrollable?
I am 32 years old, and I am still failing when it comes to decision-making. Every single decision that we make during our days leads us to a consequence. Some decisions are much easier to make than others. What are you going to wear today? What are you going to eat today? Are you going to drink water or not? Are you going to move your body or not? But what about the big decisions? Where are you going to live? Where are you going to work? Who are you going to date? Who are you going to be friends with?
All these decisions bring consequences on our lives, and most of the time, we don’t think about them. We know that if we don’t dress for specific weather, we will be too hot or too cold, that if we don’t drink enough water and eat enough food, we won’t function well, that if we stay on our couches without moving weeks in a row, we will eventually be sick. Some of these consequences come with short notice, and others take a longer time.
But it’s harder to think about consequences for big life decisions because life is uncontrollable; we can only control it to an extent. Sometimes, you can do everything right, and everything goes wrong, and the other way around is also the truth. How often don’t we hear stories about the people…
