Disclaimer: If you are reading this outside the UK, just change in your mind the word Rubbish for Garbage. Thank you!

I have been consistently doing therapy for over a year now and during the sessions, one recurring subject is my obsession with cleaning.

When I am more mentally stressed, everything becomes dirtier. At these times, I need to control myself to not let my negative thoughts control my life.

In the worst times, even my food is dirty. But up to this moment, I never let this thought win, and I ate it anyway. This obsession started happening in 2012 when I was living in Canada. So I have been dealing with it for a while now.

Because I am obsessed with cleaning, I hate rubbish. I hate it. I hate seeing over-flooded rubbish bins on the streets and I hate seeing random rubbish items on the sidewalk. It triggers me.

Why do people need to throw away their used cotton buds and tooth flosses in the mild of my way to the park when I am trying to relax and go away from my “dirty house” (which by the way is pretty clean for any “normal person”)?
