Having Money Doesn’t Make You Rich

So what makes you rich?

I have two bank accounts — one in Brazil and one in the UK. In Brazil, my account is growing every month due to rental payments. I hope to see around 100,000 reais there either by the end of this year or during the first semester of 2022. 100,000 reais is a lot of money in Brazil, but honestly, I don’t feel rich. This is around £13,854.61 (at the date of publication).

I wrote how I am planning to spend £1,000 per month in the UK, to be able to save £650 per month, and to have £10,000 in my Emergency Fund (a little bit more, to be honest). I probably won’t feel rich when I achieve this as well. £10,000 is not a lot of money in the UK.

So, having money doesn’t necessarily make someone rich because being rich is a feeling.

Ok, Why don’t I feel rich even though I do have Money?

  1. Because this Money can’t afford the lifestyle, I wish I had.
  2. Because this Money is not working for me, and it’s just sitting in saving accounts.
  3. Because I don’t know how to invest this money to make more money.
