One of the reasons that kept me away from practising any type of sport was the fact that when you play a sport, you can get an injury.

It’s almost impossible to not get hurt at least once in your lifetime by playing sports.

I am someone that hates getting hurt because that means slowing it down, taking a step back to let the healing begin. Our physical body needs rest to heal.

In modern society, we don’t talk about injuries and setbacks. We pretend that everyone is always good to go. We always need to be productive. We always need to be our best selves to fulfil a list of daily activities, even if they don’t mean anything to us. We always need to reach the next milestone.

Another point is that in our modern society, there isn’t space for injured people. I am not even talking about people with disabilities that need to live with conditions for their entire lives because they face a hardship that I cannot put into words. I am talking about people that are recovering from injuries. They were “fine” before, and they will be “fine” after. They are often taken aside from society. Now that you are not as productive as before, please make space for the people that are.
