How To Make This Summer Less “Sucky”

Because life is not going back to normal (yet or ever)

I wish I was one of the people that are just trying to live their best summer. But in the UK, there isn’t anything to celebrate this summer. First, it’s not even sunny. Secondly, the UK and the world is collapsing. I can’t just party and pretend nothing is happening; maybe I should.

I moved to the UK to live a better life, and even though the UK is doing lots of things wrong, it’s still a better option than Brazil. So, I guess, I am not allowed to complain (too much). I had my first vaccine dose, and I am waiting for my second one, but until then… I still need to keep my social distance.

My friends want to party, they want to live a “normal” life, but the responsible thing is to wait at home until I get my second dose in August. Just chill. The COVID-19 cases in the UK are growing again, and they have picked up, so it means we are getting the third wave. Is this ever going to end? Probably, but not anytime soon.

I still worry about getting COVID-19 and being sick. And I am still managing the fact that I don’t know when I will see my family again. Within so much uncertainty and instability, I am just trying to live 2021 the best way I can, and this won’t mean my best summer, but a sort of summer.
