How To Survive Transitional Periods

What to do when your life is changing and you lost control over it

Life is all about changes. It’s the cycle of life, the change of the seasons. Without changes, we would stagnate. Although, our society praises stagnation.

We have created the concept of getting our life together where chaos is not welcomed. When we lose control, we want to take it back as soon as possible.

To change, we need to lose control. We need to let go of the old and embrace the new, and the new is usually unsettling.

There is an adjustment phase, a transitional period. In this period, you are creating your new life, still deciding what parts of your old self you are going to keep. There is also a new space to embrace parts of your new self. But this can feel too much.

Transitional periods are overlooked. People don’t talk about them. They don’t talk about how it takes time to adjust to a new life situation and how weird you might feel.

Moving houses, getting married, having a baby, starting a new job, a new business, ending…
