How To Use Your Birthday To Develop Yourself

It’s important to balance the pressure with the celebration.

A couple of days ago, it was my birthday. I am now officially 32 years old. To be honest, I think I will only “worry about getting old” when it’s my 35th birthday. I am not too bothered with my 33rd or 34th Birthdays. I know I am getting older, but it’s not “too bad” (yet).

Before we become adults, let’s say that until we are “18 years old”, most of us look forward to our Bdays and to celebrate them. I was lucky enough to have parents who put lots of effort into ensuring I had a special celebration for every birthday. Then we become adults, and it’s very easy to let it slide and not do anything to celebrate it. Some of us want to even forget it’s our birthday.

Because I moved to other countries during most of my adulthood, I am used to spending my birthday on my own or without any “birthday party” with friends or family members. For the last couple of years, I have decided to always travel for my birthday, which I hope to keep for the rest of my life. In 2019, I went to Warsaw, Poland, which I loved. In 2020, I went to Cambridge, and this year I went to Liverpool. Since the pandemic, I haven’t been confident about travelling outside the UK.
