The Problem With Ignoring Problems
At the beginning of 2021, I needed to pay almost 5,000 reais in pending fees for the Brazilian Government. Since 2017, I needed to have opened a company to be a self-employed freelance writer in Brazil. Even though I was already living in the UK, I had lots of Brazilian clients.
For more than four years, I ignored the monthly fee I needed to pay to keep this company open, which was very cheap, much less than £10 per month, I never also paid any tax for my Brazilian writing freelance work up to that moment.
I could have kept ignoring this problem, but something has changed last year when I saw myself at the bottom. When you have money problems, the best solution is to be very clear about them and just do the right thing. If I kept ignoring these fees and pending taxes, they would only get bigger and bigger. And I didn’t want to be this person anymore, I wanted to be a person that has their shit together.
When I needed to reevaluate all my financial life, I decided that I wouldn’t run away from problems anymore in any area of my life no matter how costly they are, in money, time and energy.
