There Is a Difference Between Supporting Abortions And Supporting Abortion Legalisation

You don’t need to support abortions to support abortion legalisation.

Abortion is still a crime in Brazil. And that’s wrong. Abortion should be legalised to give women a choice about what they want to do with an unplanned pregnancy.

At the same time, abortion is not the best solution for all unplanned pregnancies because it’s painful, it’s traumatising. When you have an abortion, your body bleeds, your soul bleeds even if you don’t believe that a couple of cells is a life.

I support abortion legalisation, and this should be a constitutional right. But I am against the banalisation of abortion. It’s not a quick fix. It’s not how movies and TV shows picture it. Again, it’s NOT how you see on your television, computer or tablet. Even if you are having an abortion in an excellent hospital, it’s dirty. You will bleed until you can’t anymore. You will feel pain. You will be traumatised.

In addition, abortion doesn’t finish when the procedure is done. It starts after it. And where is the medical support for that? Abortion legalisation alone is not going to resolve the problem. We need to talk more about abortion. We need to educate people. We need to offer physiologist support pre
