What Does It Mean to Live a Normal Life in 2021?
Are things ever going back to normal?
Today I had my first Covid-19 vaccine dose, and I feel like I have been feeling all this time: tired. The year 2020 was tiring, and being honest, I don’t think things will change so soon. I am definitely hoping to go to Brazil to see my parents, but that’s it. I haven’t seen them since January 2020.
I don’t have any other hopes for 2021 because I need a miracle to happen to see Brazil leaving the UK’s red list. This would mean that I don’t need to worry about returning to the UK and not being allowed to enter the country. I learned to not expect much from life because life nowadays is pretty domestic. And thankfully, I have a better home to “quarantine” as much as necessary.
In the UK, the 21st of June would be the day of freedom, but now it was “unofficially” postponed for an additional four weeks. And I do agree with this decision. One thing I’ve learned about the behaviour in the UK is that here people are either 8 or 80.
Either everyone is at home, or everyone is out getting drunk and hugging people they never met in their lives before. There is no middle term, just enjoying yourself while not putting anyone at risk. And there is still some risk, and precaution is everything.
