You Don’t Become An Influencer To Get Rich. You Become Rich To Be An Influencer.

Also, most influencers are actually broke.

One of my vices is scrolling on Instagram. Back in 2006, as a teenager, I used to spend hours and hours surfing on websites like Just Jared to see all the candid pictures of celebrities. Now 15 years later, as an adult, I am not so much interested in knowing what celebrities are doing when they are off duty. Instead, I want to know what “normal people are doing”, usually females, around my age, and that live the life I want to live.

They live in a big city; usually, they work in the publishing world, are stylish themselves, and have a stylish lifestyle. It’s funny how Instagram can transform ordinary people into celebrities. My girl crush changes from time to time, my obsession with someone else’s life lasts only a couple of weeks or months, and the good thing is that Instagram can bring you options, so your next crush is only a few clicks away.

The other day, I checked the account of a girl who works for a place I would like to work for. She recently is trying the influencer lifestyle and started only part-timing at her office job. She mentioned a purchase that she recently got. A luxury bag that costs more than £2,000. Not long ago, I applied for a job in the place that she works for, and the salary for a content coordinator there was £21,000 per year. This girl isn’t a content coordinator, but I am sure her salary is less than £30,000 per year (and even less now that she only works part-time there).

Ok, now she is “an influencer”, and she probably can make this type of money with one deal. But even though, in the past, she did the same type of purchases, Prada bags, Chanel shoes, and all these things are expensive. She wouldn’t be able to afford these things only with her salary, that if it were £30,000, it would be around £2,000 per month. That would leave her with nothing else to cover her living expenses, and she would need some other form of income. So, the only two things to assume here is that she is rich and doesn’t need her salary to support herself. I know I am assuming things, but it’s impossible not to do it because there isn’t another explanation.Money doesn’t grow in threes, and either you need to work for it, or someone needs…
